What better way to celebrate our 30th annual conference than to discuss “The Future of the Internet”? No-one, 30 years ago, could have grasped what it was, even if there was early talk of packets, datagrams and ... Minitel. Only a very few might just have shone, back in 1978, the spotlight on South Korea, whose rise through the ranks of our sector leaders has been truly spectacular. And now that the Internet dominates so many dimensions of our lives, our discussions on its future have to be more and more focused. Hence our choice of questions for this year’s event: • What changes can we envision in the amazing new environment of widespread access to Very High Speed FTTx, with the burgeoning mobile Internet, SaaS and Cloud Computing, the Web of Things, the Semantic Web, and TVFD? • How will Internet withstand the strain of total migration to IP and the varying tugs and thrusts in quality of service issues in a plethora of applications? • Will we see a more stable set of leaders and business models in search engines, IM, UGC, Social Networking, video games, e-trade and business applications? • How will the actors in the sectors of telecommunications, television, video games, software and IT services position themselves in this emerging context? • What does the Open Internet mean for us, with its diversity of approaches and debates around IP interconnectivity, service interoperability, Open API or Open Social, not to mention the broader issues of Internet governance? > www.digiworldsummit.com
